The Dar es Salaam Maritime Institute invites applications from suitably qualified Tanzanians and non-Tanzanians candidates for admission into the under mentioned courses for the academic year 2018/2019  Application forms are available at the Institute and through the link below

  1. BACHELOR OF ENGINEERING IN MARINE ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY (NTA LEVEL 7/8)

      MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  1. Holder of Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) with at least two principal passes with a total of 4.0 points from Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry subjects and at least 3 credits at ‘O’ level in relevant subjects including English OR

 

  1. Holder of Ordinary Diploma (NTA Level 6) in either Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering with at least a GPA of 3.5 from a recognized institution and at least 3 Pass at ‘O’ level in relevant subjects including English

DURATION OF THE COURSE:
The duration of the course is 4 years. The course is scheduled to start on 22nd October, 2018

  1. BACHELOR DEGREE IN MARITIME TRANSPORT (NTA LEVEL 7/8)

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  1. Holder of Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examinations with at least two principal passes(A-E- before 2014 & A-D after 2014) in the following subjects; Mathematics, Physics, Geography and Chemistry with an aggregate of 4 points and at least 3 credits at ‘O’ level in relevant subjects including English. OR

 

  1. Holder of an Ordinary Diploma in Maritime Transport and Master Fishermen with at least a GPA of 3.5 from a recognized institution and at least 3 Pass at ‘O’ level in relevant subjects including English.

  DURATION OF THE COURSE:

Four years, full time organized in two semesters annually. The course is scheduled to start on 1st October, 2018

  1. BACHELOR DEGREE IN SHIPPING AND LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT (BDSLM) – NTA LEVEL 7/8 (Morning or Evening Classes)

 

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  1. Holder of advanced certificate of secondary education examination (ACSSE) with a total of 4.0 points from two principal passes of which one of the subject should be either in Mathematics, or Physics, or Chemistry, or Economics, or Geography, or Commerce. OR

 

  1. Holder of ordinary diploma (NTA level 6) in shipping and logistics management, logistics and transport, maritime transport, master fisherman, marine engineering, procurement and logistics, freight clearing and forwarding and transport management with at least a GPA of 3.5 OR

 

  1. Holder of full technician certificate (FTC) with an average grade of B OR

 

  1. Holder of diploma in education with an average grade of B+ for science and commerce subjects.

 

      DURATION OF THE COURSE:

Three years, full time organized in two semesters annually. The course is scheduled to start on 22nd October, 2018

  1. ORDINARY DIPLOMA IN MARINE ENGINEERING (NTA LEVEL 6)

       MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Holder Technician Certificate in Marine Engineering (NTA Level 5)

One year full time organized in two semesters. The course is scheduled to start on 1st October, 2018

  1. ORDINARY DIPLOMA IN MARITIME TRANSPORT (NTA LEVEL 6)

 
MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Holder Technician Certificate in Maritime Transport (NTA Level 5)
 
DURATION OF THE COURSE
One year full time organized in two semesters. The course is scheduled to start on 2nd October, 2018

  1. ORDINARY DIPLOMA IN SHIPPING AND LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT (ODSLM) – NTA LEVEL 6 (Level 6) (Morning or Evening Classes)

 

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  1. Holder of Technician Certificate (NTA Level 5) in Shipping and Logistics Management (TCSLM)

 

DURATION OF THE COURSE:

One year, full time organized in two semesters annually. The course is scheduled to start on 1st October, 2018

 

  1. TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATE IN MARINE ENGINEERING (NTA LEVEL 5)

      MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Holder of Basic Certificate in Marine Operations (NTA Level 4)

OR

Holder of Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education (ACSE) with at least one principal pass in Physics, Mathematics or Chemistry

DURATION OF COURSE

One year full time organised in two semesters. The course is scheduled to start on 1st October, 2018

 

  1. TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATE IN MARITIME TRANSPORT (NTA LEVEL 5)

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

 

  1. Holder of Basic Technician Certificate in Marine Operations (NTA Level 4)

OR

  1. Holder of Advanced Certificate of Secondary School Education ACSSE with at least one principal pass and subsidiary pass with an aggregate of at least 1.5 points in Mathematics, Physics, or Geography.

 

DURATION OF THE COURSE:

One year full time organized in two semesters. The course is scheduled to start on 1st October, 2018

 

  1. TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATE IN SHIPPING AND LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT (CSLM) – NTA LEVEL 5(Morning or Evening classes)

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  1. Holder of Basic Technician Certificate in Shipping and Logistics Management/Logistics and Transport Management/Marine Operations OR

 

  1. Holder of Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination with at least 1 principal pass or 2 subsidiaries passes other than religious subjects

 DURATION OF THE COURSE:

One year, full time organized in two semesters annually. The course is scheduled to start on 1st October, 2018

                                                                    

  1. BASIC TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATE IN MARINE OPERATIONS (NTA LEVEL 4)

 

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

 

  1. Holder of Certificate of Secondary Education (Form IV) with at least four passes in the following subjects Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering Science, Geography and English.

            OR

  1. Holder of relevant certificate of competency Level III issued by VETA and Certificate of secondary Education (Form IV) with at least four passes

 

      DURATION OF THE COURSE:

One year full time organized in two semesters. The course is scheduled to start on 1st October, 2018

  1. BASIC TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATE IN SHIPPING AND LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT (TCSLM) – NTA LEVEL 4 (Morning or Evening Classes)

 

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  1. Holder of Ordinary Level Secondary Education Certificate with at least four passes excluding religious subjects. OR
  2. Holder of National Vocational Award level three in relevant field and Certificate of secondary Education (Form IV) with at least four passes

 

DURATION OF THE COURSE:

One year, full time organized in two semesters annually. The course is scheduled to start on 1st October, 2018

 

 

  1. CHIEF ENGINEER OFFICER AND SECOND ENGINEER OFFICER

 

      MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

 

  1. Holder of certificate of competency as officer in charge of an engineering watch on seagoing ships powered by main propulsion machinery of 750 kW propulsion power or more.

 

  1. Have not less than 12 months of seagoing service while qualified as officer in charge of an engineering watch.

 

To qualify as a chief engineer officer a candidate must have not less than 36 months seagoing service; however this period may be reduced to not less than 24 months if not less than 12 months of such sea service has been served as second engineer officer.

 

DURATION OF COURSE

 

One year full time organised in two semesters. The course is scheduled to start on 1st October, 2018

 

NB: For Certification purposes a candidate should have her/his sea service assessed by SUMATRA for eligibility prior application for the Course

 

  1. OFFICER IN CHARGE OF AN ENGINEERING WATCH

 

      MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

 

  1. Holder of certificate of ordinary level secondary school education with 4 passes including Mathematics, Physics and English and Rating Forming Part of Engineering Watch

OR

Holder of a Technician Certificate in Marine Engineering (NTA level 5)

OR

Holder of Certificate of Competency for Officer in Charge of Engineering Watch less than 750 kW.

 

  1. Have not less than 36 months of seagoing service.

 

DURATION OF COURSE

One year full time organised in two semesters. . The course is scheduled to start on 1st October, 2018

NB: For Certification purposes a candidate should have her/his sea service assessed by SUMATRA for eligibility prior application for the Course

 

 14.ELECTRO-TECHNICAL OFFICER

 

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

 

  1. Holder of certificate of ordinary level secondary school education with 4 passes including Mathematics, Physics and English and Rating Forming Part of Engineering Watch or a holder of a Certificate in Marine Engineering NTA level 5 and has not less than 36 months of seagoing service.

 

DURATION OF THE COURSE

One year full time organised in two semesters. The course is scheduled to start on 1st October, 2018

 

NB: For Certification purposes a candidate should have her/his sea service assessed by SUMATRA for eligibility prior application for the Course

 

  1. OFFICER IN CHARGE OF AN ENGINEERING WATCH LESS THAN 750 kW

 

      MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

 

  1. Have completed ordinary level secondary school education with four passes of non-religious subjects and Rating Forming Part of Engineering Watch

 

  1. Have not less than 36 months seagoing service period.

 

DURATION OF COURSE

Six months full time. The course is scheduled to start on 1st October, 2018

 

NB: For Certification purposes a candidate should have her/his sea service assessed by SUMATRA for eligibility prior application for the Course

 

  1. MASTER AND CHIEF MATE

 

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Holder of certificate of competency as officer in charge of a navigational watch on ships of 500 gross tonnage or more and have not less than 12 months of approved seagoing service

 

To qualify as a Master a Candidate must have not less than 36 months seagoing service; however this period may be reduced to not less than 24 months if not less than 12 months of such sea service has been served as Chief Mate.

 

DURATION OF COURSE

One year full time organised in two semesters. The course is scheduled to start on 1st October, 2018

 

NB: For Certification purposes a candidate should have her/his sea service assessed by SUMATRA for eligibility prior application for the Course

 

  1. MASTER AND CHIEF MATE ON SHIPS OF BETWEEN 500 AND 3000 GROSS TONNAGE COURSE

 

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  1. Holder of certificate of competency as officer in charge of a navigational watch on ships of 500 gross tonnage or more and has not less than 12 months of approved seagoing service.

 

To qualify as a Master a Candidate must have not less than 36 months seagoing service; however this period may be reduced to not less than 24 months if not less than 12 months of such sea service has been served as Chief Mate.

 

DURATION OF COURSE

Six Months full time organized. The course is scheduled to start on 1st October, 2018

 

NB: For Certification purposes a candidate should have her/his sea service assessed by SUMATRA for eligibility prior application for the Course

 

  1. OFFICER INCHARGE OF A NAVIGATIONAL WATCH

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  1. Holder of certificate of ordinary level secondary school education with 4 passes including Mathematics, Physics and English, and 36 months of seagoing service as Rating OR
  2. Holder of Officer In Charge of a Navigation Watch on Ships less than 500GT with not less than 36 months sea serviced on board ship

 

DURATION OF COURSE

One year full time organized in two semesters. The course is scheduled to start on 1st October, 2018

 

NB: For Certification purposes a candidate should have her/his sea service assessed by SUMATRA for eligibility prior application for the Course

 

  1. MASTER ON SHIPS LESS THAN 500GT ENGAGED ON NEAR COASTAL VOYAGE

 

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  1. Holder of Officer In Charge of a Navigation Watch on Ships less than 500GT and have not less than 12 months of seagoing serviced on board ship

DURATION OF THE COURSE:

Four (4) months full time. . The course is scheduled to start 1st October, 2018

NB: For Certification purposes a candidate should have her/his sea service assessed by SUMATRA for eligibility prior to Commencement of the Course

 

  1. OFFICERS INCHARGE OF A NAVIGATIONAL WATCH ON SHIPS OF LESS THAN 500 GT ENGAGED ON NEAR COASTAL VOYAGES

 

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

 

  1. Holder of National Certificate of Secondary school education with 36 months of approved seagoing service as Rating OR
  2. Advanced Certificate of Secondary School education with 6 months of approved seagoing service.

 

DURATION OF COURSE

Six months full time. The course is scheduled to start on 1st October, 2018

NB: For Certification purposes a candidate should have her/his sea service assessed by SUMATRA for eligibility prior application for the Course

 

 

 

  1. LEVEL 4 DIPLOMA IN SHIPPING AND LOGISTICS

(Conducted in Collaboration with ABMA-UK) – Evening Classes

 

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  1. Holder of Introductory Certificate in Logistics and Transport OR
  2. Holder of Certificate in Marine Operations (NTA Level 5) from DMI or Equivalent qualification; Or
  3. Holder of Certificate of Secondary Education (Form IV) with at least four passes including English

 

DURATION OF THE COURSE

The duration of the course is 12 months. The course is scheduled to start on 1st October, 2018

 

  1. LEVEL 5 DIPLOMA IN SHIPPING AND LOGISTICS

(Conducted in Collaboration with ABMA-UK) – Evening Classes

 

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

 

  1. Holder of Level 4 diploma in shipping and Logistics OR
  2. Holder of Certificate in Clearing forwarding and Shipping Management;

 

            DURATION OF THE COURSE

The duration of the course is 12 months. The course is scheduled to start on 1st October, 2018

 

  1. LEVEL 6 DIPLOMA IN SHIPPING AND LOGISTICS

(Conducted in Collaboration with ABMA-UK) – Evening Classes

 

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

 

  1. Holder of Level 5 diploma in shipping and Logistics OR
  2. Holder of Diploma in Clearing Forwarding and Shipping Management;

 

            DURATION OF THE COURSE

The duration of the course is 12 months. The course is scheduled to start on 1st October, 2018

 

  1. INTERNATIONAL ADVANCED DIPLOMA IN LOGISTICS & TRANSPORT

(Conducted in Collaboration with the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport CILT-UK) – Evening Class

 

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

 

  1. Holder of International Diploma in Logistics and Transport or equivalent qualifications OR
  2. Holder of Ordinary Diploma in Maritime Transportation or Transport Management

 

DURATION OF THE COURSE

The duration of the course is 24 months. The course is scheduled to start on 1st October, 2018

 

  1. INTERNATIONAL DIPLOMA IN LOGISTICS & TRANSPORT

(Conducted in Collaboration with the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport CILT-UK) – Evening Class)

 

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  1. Holder of Advanced Certificate of Secondary education with at least two passes in the following subjects: – English, Geography, Mathematics, Physics, Commerce, Accounts, and working experience in the logistics and transport of at least two years; OR
  2. Holder of International Certificate in Logistics and Transport or equivalent qualifications; OR
  3. Holder of Technician Certificate in Maritime Transport (NTA Level 5)

                 

DURATION OF THE COURSE

The duration of the course is 12 months. The course is scheduled to start on 1st October, 2018

 

  1. INTERNATIONAL CERTIFICATE IN LOGISTICS & TRANSPORT

(Conducted in Collaboration with the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport CILT-UK) – Evening Class)

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

           

  1. Holder of Introductory Certificate in Logistics and Transport; OR
  2. Holders of Certificate of Secondary education with at least four passes in the following subjects:-English, Geography, Mathematics, Physics, Commerce, Accounts; OR
  3. Holders of Basic Certificate in Marine Operations (NTA Level 4)

 

DURATION OF THE COURSE

The duration of the course is 12 Months. The course is scheduled to start on 1st October, 2018

 

  1. INTRODUCTORY CERTIFICATE IN LOGISTICS & TRANSPORT

(Is an entry qualification that will enable students who do not meet CILT entry requirements to gain access to CILT & ABMA course)- Evening Class

 

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Holder of Certificate of Secondary Education

        

DURATION OF THE COURSE

The duration of the course is 6 Months. The course is scheduled to start on 1st October, 2018

 

APPLICATION PROCEDURES

  • Candidates for admission into NTA program (NTA level 4-8) will lodge their application through the Central admission system (CAS) under TCU/NACTE. Information on when and how to apply for admission will be released by NACTE and TCU after the Guidebook for 2018/2018 academic year is released the information will be available to the public on NACTE and TCU website: nacte.go.tz and www.tcu.go.tz
  • Foreigner students should make sure their certificates are certified by National Education Council Tanzania (NECTA) before application.
  • Candidates for admission into other programs are required to apply direct to the Institute with Non-refundable application fee 10,000 or Us$ 30
  • Payment should be made through the Dar es Salaam Maritime Institute A/c 011103020561 for payments in TSh and No. 012105004460 for payments in USD at NBC bank
  • All application forms must be accompanied by certified photocopies of certificates and testimonial
  • The deadline for application lodged direct to our Institute is Monday 31st august 2018
  • Location: The Institute is located at 19 Sokoine Drive Adjacent to Tanzania Government Flight Agency (TGFA)
  • Hostel is available for the once who need
